PLAYERS AWARDS DINNER
THE WINNERS!

Date: Saturday 24th April 2010
Venue: Kingston Park

CRAIC:
Owner of one of the largest pair of hands to hold a rugby ball, Roger Uttley, was one of the guests. Roger still looks lean & mean.
EX-1st XV prop, Keith Wade, long retired from  Her Majesty’s Customs Service, belies his years. He was a welcome guest.
Guest of Honour was the irrepressible Dougal Reed, still active on the field and off it, too, if Graham Crozier’s eulogy can be believed.

THE MAGNIFICENT TEN

  1. Roger Swan Trophy: presented to Andy Cokeley manager of the all conquering  ‘Phoenix’ 2nd XV.
  2. HILTON CUP: Ed Dufrois’ kicking skills, earned him this trophy, presented to him by Keith Wade, who won the cup twice, in 1965 and 1973, Keith was a prop!
  3. Nick Shepherd Memorial Trophy: Colt, Chris Campbell received this award
  4. Peter Southern Memorial Trophy: Neil Jamieson was a worthy recipient, his remarks about the friendships in rugby were well chosen and struck a chord with all the guests.
  5. Mini Rugby Coaches Award: Awarded to Duncan Webb for his invaluable work with the under 13’s.
  6. Junior Coaches Award: Presented to Graham Crozier for his contribution to the success of the ‘Falcons’ 3rd XV.
  7. Falcons’ Player of the Year: Nice to see one of the unsung toilers, prop, Peter Lyons being recognised.
  8. Phoenix Player of the Year:  Massive Matt Banahan eat your heart out, the compact winger Ryan Graham crossed for a lucky 13tries and deservedly picked up this award.
  9. PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  1ST Team winger Adam Ainley got an honourable mention for his captaincy and the 18 tries scored in 26 League games, but another Adam, flanker Adam Bell earned this award because of his wholehearted contribution to every game played.
  10. Player’s Player of the Year: Jon Coffey’s inspirational recovery from a devastating leg injury and return to 1st Team man of the match form was justly rewarded.
